The question of frequency regarding mailing ones list is largely debated. However, I think the most important aspect to consider is whether you provide quality content so your list give a hoot whether they ever hear from you or not. But that’s no the only aspect.
I subscribe to MANY lists. Some I would be hard pressed to unsub to. However, if I get too much stuff I simply gloss over those emails and delete when I’m pressed for time. And who isn’t pressed for time?
Another consideration is ad swapping. not matter how great an ad swap partner is, if you do this too often people will stop expecting fresh content from you and only open your email if they have not yet reached the point of information over load.
Personally, I’ve just about filled up on info, unless it is truly unique or pertains to my current focus, so I’m burned out buy all this ad swapping. Worse still is when I get the same ad swap email from more than one Marketer in a single day! Like I said. I subscribe to a lot of lists…
Anyway, this helps me recognize what I DON”T want to do as well as what a list truly looks for.

I agree with everything you said. Maybe this is a mistake on my part…but I usually won’t open emails from the “Gurus”. If I see an email from Filsaime, Kern, or another big name marketer, especially if they promoted a product that cost thousands of dollars I’m not interested in their latest BS. I’ve paid thousands for courses from these guys and I’m tired of shelling out cash to make them millionaires. I live in the same town as Joel Comm, his office is less then a mile from here and he’s had lunch at my restaurant, but I won’t make public what I think of him.
I will open emails from Van Dyke, Dave Kelly, Guindon and Todd Gross. So far they are still on my “Good Guys” list.

This is a question I am still finding the answer to. I had someone suggest to email less. Honestly, I think my list has been a little less responsive since then. I think they got used to frequent emails. Certainly, it is a question that I don’t have the full answer to yet.

I know IM people that email to their list every day…sometimes twice a day…up to 60 to 90 days straight. And it doesn’t matter what the niche is. I’m sure you have seen this also, some new IMers sending out nothing but sales pitches…those are easy and don’t take much work, but those are the one I ignore because I know it’s just a sales pitch. If an IMer can offer a lot of content and build a relationship with their list there should be no reason why they can’t email every day. I look forward to those emails. Another thing to monitor is your unsubscribe count…if more people drop out when you email more then you need to back off or change your message or add more value. But if you email more and there is no change in your drop rate I’d say go for it!
