Tips On How To Grow Traffic

Having a website is just the start, promoting it and getting traffic is the next step. You may already be familiar on how to get traffic and links, but what this guide is going to do is teach you how to grow the traffic you already have.

Do you know that social bookmarking alone can easily get you over 1,000 unique visitors a day, at least 60% – 75% of the traffic will be targeted.

If you regularly submit your blog posts to social bookmarking sites it’s very easy to build a following, if someone likes your content then they will subscribe to your rss feed which means they will be back on a regular basis to read your posts. If they really like your posts then there is a high chance they will mention one of your articles on there site which will get you more traffic.

If you have already started to link build and draw traffic to your site then it would be a good idea to take a look at your Awstats, note all the sites that provide you traffic even if it is the odd one or two visitors.

With each site on your list spend a few minutes visiting it and see if there is anyway to increase the traffic from that site to yours, take a look at where your link is displayed on there site, the chances are if they are already linking to your site it should be easy enough to get another link.

I write a lot of articles so usually the sites that link to me are sending me traffic through my articles, if a particular site is sending me traffic and I won’t to increase it I could get in contact with the blog owner and provide them with more articles of the same quality. The blog owner should agree to that as I will be providing them with unique articles written to a high standard. Never use article rewriting software as you will never get a high quality rewritten article, if you won’t to speed up article writing then use voice software.

Try to visit all the sites that provide you traffic as it will be easy to get them to provide you with another link if they are already linking to you.

One of the top ways of increasing traffic and a very popular way with myself is article sharing. This is where a user like myself will write good content for a particular subjects and the blog that publishes my article will publish it along with three links back to my site. The three links will convert the traffic reading the article to my site and I can make the links SEO to help increase my search engine position.

Traffic is key to getting sales, it doesn’t matter how you get traffic aslong as you can maintain it. I have a process which I regularly do several times a week to help increase traffic, I use websites that are known for providing me with traffic and post on similar site or try and increase the traffic from that particular site.

Theres so many methods available to you which are free and can help increase traffic, you’ve probably seen the methods listed so many times before but I will briefly list them again. Some of the main methods for increasing traffic are social bookmarking, articles publishing, press releases, forum posting, comment posting and link bait.

I am  certain that almost all of the people that have a domain are looking into routes to help them to draw in more people to read their site. There are some differing perspectives on the sole way to go about doing this but one thing that the public agree on is that it’s important to build up the number of backward links that point to your internet site. The issue is how do we get these links? It is always best to try and get other web sites from the same industry as your own to add a link to your website on their site ( on the homepage if at all possible ). I have, in the past, spent hours phoning and e-mailing the webmasters from different sites which are in an equivalent field to my personal site. Even if only 1 person agreed to my request after phoning up thirty folk, I was chuffed. Hopefully this link will be permanent and over time could prove deeply valuable to me. Folks  who visit this people site are now potential visitors to my private site as they may see my link and naturally hopefully will click it. Often  the more links  I am  in a position to get the better, and in time I may well see a rise in my internet sites page rank.

This in turn should move me up some places in the search engines for my keywords, which naturally should then result in more traffic. This is the value of any backward link.

If the page where my link has been added is a high traffic page or has a high page rank worth then I am even more lucky. As an example the link would be of far bigger price to my site if it was placed on a page with a page rank five rather than a page with a page rank two. How many backward links should I be trying to obtain?  In my humble opinion you want to be careful not to build up the number of these backward links too fast.

It should be a continual project across the life of the site. If as an example you’re able to get 10 each week for 5 years, this would be wonderful. This can quite simply raise a red flag with the search engines. There is no simple solution, tough work pays off and we want to have patience. I look to the long run and believe in time the work I put in today will be of great benefit to me tomorrow.

Alternative routes of getting links is by : making articles purchasing a text link ad Out of these two options I like the making articles option. As I have stated however, difficult work pays off and this is an easy way of gaining one-way backward links. There are many tools available to a webmaster to analyse website traffic, some free like Google’s Analytics that will allow them to monitor the number of visitors, see what pages have been accessed and the length of time visitors have spent accessing the website and a whole lot more.

However, despite the vast amount of detailed information that can be collected what will always be missing is information that will tell the webmaster exactly what the visitor was thinking. Did they dislike the website? Was the layout clear or confusing? Was the website easy to use and did they find the information they wanted?

A website may be generating sales but why are some people that visit the website not buying anything? Was the reason because they didn’t like what was being offered, or was it that they couldn’t find what they wanted even though it was there?

Web based surveys provide webmasters with an accurate method of answering these types of questions. Direct feedback from the website visitors hears it straight from the horse’s mouth, no need to guess, just ask the visitors directly on how they found the web site and if they found what they were looking for.

With an online survey webmasters can find out:-

• How often do people visit the website?
• How did they discover the website?
• Are they interested in the website for business or pleasure reasons?
• Did they find the information they were looking for?
• How easy was it for them to navigate the website?
• Would they be prepared to recommend the website to others?

A good website survey will be short and to the point and gather good intelligence that once analysed will help improve the website.

Another alternative to a traditional survey is to embed one or two survey questions within the website after specific procedures. For example, ask visitors at the end of the registration process if they found the procedure quick and easy; or after ordering an item ask if they found the ordering procedure and payment methods straightforward. To ensure that the questions don’t become annoying to regular visitors the website can be programmed so that the questions are only asked once per registered user.

OK 3 steps to get your Google Adwords setup and ready to start
advertising, creating an account, writing your first ad and
submitting your billing information.

The first thing you need to do is sign up and get yourself a
google adwords account. To do that head over to the Google and
at the bottom of the screen click on the ‘Advertising
Programmes’ link at the bottom.

Then:

• Click into the Adwords homepage

• Click ‘try now’ at the top right of the screen

• Select the standard edition (you need to have an active
website for the standard edition, if you don’t have an active
website you are not really at the stage to start experimenting
with Google Adwords!)

• On the next screen it will ask you if you have a Google
account, you could have one for gmail, Google Adsense, Google
Analytics etc, all of them will give you a Google account which
you can enter at this step. If you really click the button that
says you don’t have an account and it will ask for some details
to make one for you.

• If you have used an existing Google account you can then sign
in to your brand spanking new Google Adwords account, if you
have created a new account then you need to click the
verification link in the email they don’t have one or want a
fresh account associated with Adwords (it is a lot easier just
to have one account trust me!) then have just sent you to
confirm you are the owner of that email address, then you can
sign in.

Then make up a dummy campaign to get started. When you
log in click on the ‘create my first campaign’ button and you
will be taken through the campaign setup process.

Just enter any information in, put in any name, choose any
country, put in a fake ad (just fake not silly as if that makes
it to an editor you’ll be in their bad books!) and choose your
keyword as ‘123456789’ or similar so it will not actually show.

Once you have completed setting up your Adwords campaign it will show you
a summary screen where you can check everything is ok – then
click ‘continue to billing’ There you enter your billing
information, select your timezone and agree to the terms and
conditions, if you select direct debit payment you will have to
wait while that goes through the system, but the other options
mean you can start advertising straightaway.

Personally I use a credit card payment at the end of the month
for my Adwords account,but you also have the choice to do
prepay where you deposit money into your account for Adwords to
use, this will reduce any risks on your behalf as if you were to
accidentally leave an ad running that built up a huge bill then
with the credit card option you’d have to pay, if you used
prepay then the ad would just stop running after the money in
your account ran out.

Please remember that there is a 5 – $10 setup charge for your
account that they will charge you after setup.

The choice is yours, but just make sure after you setup your
billing that you go to the ‘campaign summary’ page listed at the
top of the screen and tick the checkbox next to your dummy
campaign and delete it! Or you may get charged for the
advert showing up!
